The department of Vision and Hearing Sciences is one of the founder members of the European Academy of Optometry and Optics, working as part of a network of eye care professionals across Europe to harmonise standards and practices in optometry and optics. You will be gaining experience in Anglia Ruskin's outstanding university Eye Clinic alongside lecturers who are registered optometrists.
CRIC's Undergraduate Pathway is the only pathway of its kind in the United Kingdom and ideal for those wishing to get into the competitive world of Optometry. Both BOptom (Hons) Optometry and BSc (Hons) Ophthalmic Dispensing have professional recognition; they are fully accredited by the General Optical Council.

Important information: BOptom (Hons) Optometry is only available to international fee paying students.

Please be aware that in order to successfully progress to BOptom (Hons) Optometry you need to obtain an academic average of 70% in your foundation modules. Progression to BSc (Hons) Ophthalmic Dispensing is conditional on obtaining 60% average.

Students that fail to meet the progression requirements outlined above are eligible to choose an alternative course from the Medical and Life Sciences programme outlined here

Entry Requirements
  • Completion of HSC with GPA of 2.5 or 55%
  • The language of instruction at CRIC is English. To attain entry into the undergraduate or postgraduate pathway, you must be able to demonstrate you have a suitable level of English proficiency. The English requirement for all CRIC courses is: IELTS overall score of 5.5 (with at least 5.5 in each of the four components)
  • We have provided this calculator to help establish the entry level for a student based on their current English Certificate.
