This six-year extended doctor of medicine course aims to meet the high demand for qualified doctors and gives UEL students the opportunity to study for an international degree.

In preparation for your medical studies you’ll cover areas of Human Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Genetics. You’ll also spend four weeks each summer at East Kent Hospital to experience pre-clinical exposure- early patient contact. Ensuring a smooth transition onto the challenges of studying medicine.

You’ll complete two years of study at UEL for a DipHE in Medical Science andprogress into the four year medical course, taught at AUA’s campus in Antigua. You’ll be provided with hands-on pre-clinical training at the on-campus simulation centre and at the Mount St John’s Medical Centre, one of the most modern hospitals in the Caribbean.

The final 2 years of clinical sciences is taught at AUA’s affiliated teaching hospitals throughout the US, UK and Canada.

FOUNDATION YEAR (IF REQUIRED)

  • This course offers the opportunity of year-long placement between years two and three. If you choose to take this option, you’ll spend your third year on a placement with a relevant company or organisation, adding valuable practical experience to your growing academic knowledge. 

    The extra placement year means it will take four years to complete your studies, instead of three.

YEAR3

  • You will progress onto your four year international medical degree with the American University of Antigua.
