THE UNIVERSITY OF LAW

LLM LEGAL PRACTICE (INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY)

LLM  |  Placement Year:   No

Each of these Masters programmes will equip you with the practical skills to assist you in gaining employment within your specialist area in a legal or commercial capacity. If you are already working in these fields, our LLMs will enhance your CV and help you take on a more senior role.

Each of the programmes have been designed for non-law graduates, however we understand they may still appeal to those with an academic grounding in English law who are looking to enhance their skills or specialise in the relevant areas. In that case we welcome your application but would encourage you to contact our admissions team to discuss your options and the likelihood of repeat study.

We offer two online LLM courses designed for English law graduates, with a focus on conflict resolution (resolving business disputes) or intellectual property (involving copyright, patents and trademarks).

Module & Subject

Each course will deliver a Master's level insight into different aspects of your chosen specialist field. The programme will combine taught modules on key fundamental principles of English law, your chosen specialist area and related areas of the law, with a dissertation on an aspect of your specialist area of your own choice from a list of provided topics.

Each programme is completed in one year with all modules compulsory. All taught modules are worth 30 credits each and the dissertation is worth 40 credits. There is also a 20 credit self-study research methods module to help you get ready to write your dissertation.
